Remnant 2 formally introduces the Challenger Archetype. He is a mid-range fighter who is too angry to die.
Remnant 2 unleashes the Hulking Challenger archetype
We just formally met the newest archetype of Remnant 2, the Challenger. This class was initially released in March of this year, but now we can see more details of its kit.
If you’ve always wanted to tower over the fray, laugh death in the face, and be too angry to succumb to your injuries, then this Archetype Remnant 2 is definitely for you.
Challenge accepted!
Challengers will thrive in any life-threatening combat encounter in Remnant 2. When thrown into an arena full of enemies, challengers will happily rip and tear everything to shreds while absorbing the brunt of the attacks. They are heavily armored and armed to the teeth with melee weapons and other mid-range weapons.

Challenger abilities and perks follow the same theme: everything heavy. Damage, armor, health and more. Its main perk is called Die Hard, which literally makes the Challenger stand up when taking fatal damage.

They are too angry to die and consider it all just a superficial wound. Instead of crying on the floor from their broken bones, Challengers will literally punch the floor in frustration and go back to hitting things. The only downside to this skill is its long cooldown – they can only perform this move once every 10 minutes. But that just means they can kill stuff for another 10 minutes.
Challengers also receive a unique archetype trait called Strong Back. This makes Heavy Armor less heavy, effectively removing all disadvantages of this type of armor.
A Skillful Challenge
Now for the Remnant 2 Challenger skills! First, we have War Stomp. Just as the name suggests, this is a powerful ability that sends shockwaves in a cone in front of the caster. Due to the extreme force of the blow, the aftershocks are enough to stun any enemy. With enough charges, War Stomp can even surprise Elite enemies.

Much like the Juggernaut in X-Men, the Challenger’s Juggernaut ability will create an ultimate, unstoppable killing machine. The Juggernaut will greatly increase the user’s melee prowess, as both its damage and attack speed will be improved. Challengers can also close gaps much faster with improved movement speed and the ability to simply ignore damage.

Last is Rampage, which is like Juggernaut but for ranged weapons. It also drastically increased the weapon’s fire rate, reload speed, and movement speed. However, the kicker here is that the more the Challenger deals damage, the more stacks of RAGE he gets (all caps intended). Rage can stack up to 10 times with each stack increasing ranged damage by 5%. Once 10 stacks are accumulated, the Challenger goes berserk, which doubles all Rampage benefits.
The Remnant 2 Challenge
It looks like the Challenger might be the toughest Archetype available in Remnant 2. While we didn’t see its other perks in the intro video, we do have an idea of what it will receive. Its Damage Perk will likely be Close Quarters, Intimidating Presence for the Team Perk, Powerlifter for Utility, and Face of Danger as its Relic Perk.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, the archetypes in Remnant 2 look quite distinct this time around. Gunslingers seem to be the best gunslingers who can unleash a literal Bulletstorm in the midst of their enemies. The handlers also seem to be a lot of fun, especially since he gets to command (and pet!) a cute Doggo whose bite is stronger than its bark.

Also because of the introduction of Prime Perks, archetype selection will no longer just be about the initial loadout and the choice will be much more impactful later in the game. We also know that the system will be flexible, as archetype traits will be unlockable for all other characters you create once you reach max level.
This is all before Dual Archetypes, which is essentially the game’s multiclassing system. You’ll be able to mix and match skills and traits, but you won’t be able to get the Prime Perk from the secondary archetype.
The remnants of the ashes
Remnant 2 does not yet have a release date or price. We hope to get more information about its launch soon. It’s turning out to be quite attractive, especially as its areas are all unique and visually stunning, especially the Yharnam-style Dran.
